Nike Set to Sue Warren Lotas Over SB Dunk Imitations

Nike Sues LA Based Warren Lotas Over Warren Lotas Dunks

Warren Lotas Dunks

Designer Warren Lotas has been catching a lot of flack lately on account of the fact that most of the shoes he has designed this year happen to be carbon copy Nike SB Dunks also known as the Warren Lotas Dunks. At first it looked like a smaller limited time release but with Lotas questionably announcing his Jeff Staples assisted SB “Pigeon” Dunk, which is a knock off of Jeff Staples actual 2007 Nike collaboration. it is clear that Lotas planned to continue to release his “knockoff” Nike SB Dunks but it remains to be seen if Nike will seek to go after Jeff Staples as well. The sneakers have received quite a reaction online with many people even going as far as to support Lotas as they like his branding and design.

Originally a basketball shoe in 1986 (This is actually the model that the Air Jordan 1 is based off), the Dunk’s gained popularity as they were adopted by the skateboarding community in the early to mid 2000s. This allowed the Nike Dunk to cross over into fashion with limited edition sneaker collabs with designers and rappers with many collaborations becoming worth thousands of dollars in the process.

Nike clearly has had enough of The Warren Lotas Dunks knockoffs and in a court filing Nike states that Lotas has been “promoting and selling fakes of coveted Nike Dunks”. Nike also states that they have suffered “irreparable injury to its business”. In addition to taking Lotas’ knock off Nike’s off the market, Nike also is seeking a large cash settlement for the damage to the brand and confusion that the products have caused customers.

Here are the Warren Lotas Dunks in question:
