Fresh Faces FridayFresh Faces Friday: The Fresh Committee Introduces John Creasy

The Niagara Falls hip-hop scene has been heating up along with the rest of the East Coast and this week’s Niagara born and bred emcee John Creasy is burning up mics and making his own lane.

You know an MC named after Denzel Washington’s assassin character from the timeless 2004 film Man on Fire, better be able to kill any mic he steps up to and Creasy doesn’t disappoint in this regard. Since first starting out some 8 years ago now, both his style and sound have grown to the point of being able to master the art of rapping about a single topic without turning away listeners.

His latest full length offering Leviticus is full of metaphors that will catch your ear:

Had to believe in myself, so I went dolo/

A star in this world, compare me to Han Solo/

I’m Yoda on the promo, your lines are so, so/

My lines pure coco/

Take a listen you hooked/

Take another pill, paranoid he got the look/

Stuff him in his trunk closed/

Red dot feel like chicken pox/

But that one head shot will make that bread drop/

In addition to holding his own with steady, consistent releases, John Creasy is also one sixth of The Umbrella – A rap crew whose members we have featured here on the best underground hip-hop column on the planet thus solidifying their spot among some of the best out today!
