Fresh Faces FridayFresh Faces Friday: The Fresh Committee Introduces CHill

When you think of great MC’s from down south in Texas, who comes to mind? Mic wreckers like Rap-A-Lot’s Geto Boys, UGK’s Bun B and Pimp C, The D.O.C. are all legends in their own right. It’s also the state this week’s artist CHill hails from and is beginning to make a name for himself in.

CHill has been working on his craft and making the rounds on the local independent circuit for the past few years and now him and his production team Armored Sound are looking to breakthrough thanks to bars like these from his upcoming single 287:

Sticky fingaz from thc resin/highway 287

The southside is what I’m reppin, Louisiana to Texas/

I’m feelin’ so young & restless, Money keep my mind congested/

Be cool if you feel contested, the 45 be the weapon/

The Southern spitter set the tone out the gate with his 2016 debut single THC and showed his versatility on his debut album Fryday.

He tells cautionary tales on P.T.A. and does some self-reflecting on On My Own: “You try to reach for it but your mind get to second guessing, you lost control your palms shaking I see you stressing, you’re getting closer, finish line I see you progressing”.

It’s obvious the Texas prodigy is talented, with tight production and influences like Nipsey Hussle, Snoop Dogg, and Wiz Khalifa listeners are quickly made aware of what he’s capable of achieving.
