Fresh Faces Friday: Cali Barnes

Fresh Faces Friday: The Fresh Committee Introduces Cali Barnes

In the wake of a well received project Well Done dropped in January and a steady stream of single releases since, Victorville California’s own Cali Barnes is making a name for himself beyond his namesake state.

Originally discovered by the godfather of G-Funk himself – Cold 187um, who also produced some of his very first releases. Barnes has proven himself on his own by telling authentic tales from the streets with an unflappable, flow and strong delivery:

I remember we was sitting out side
My mama asking miles if you staying out this time
Few years later I’m sending c notes
To chino
Like damn we just on San Andreas using cheat codes
They sent shots in the expedition
Grazed bird head he could’ve been dead so you know we tripping
Full fledge we was down to ride
Out the window yelling homicide

You can tell his level of cadence and rhyme sophistication has been possible through years of working on his craft.

The South Cali heavyweight has also kept busy preparing his upcoming release Before Fame through Steve Stoute’s UnitedMasters which promises to be his best work yet and satisfy the appetite of hip hop heads everywhere.
