Fresh Faces Friday: The Fresh Committee Introduces J-S.A.N.D.

This week’s selection first came to our attention via this viral video making the rounds online.

The artist with the rapid fire delivery and thought provoking lyrics in the video is 20 year old J-S.A.N.D. hailing from Lafayette, Louisiana and the song is Sold Out Dates off of his breakthrough mixtape 2WENTY dropped this past December.

The self-produced tape coincided with his 20th birthday and showed versatility to go along with a lyrical barrage:

“All these misconstrued misunderstandings,
I gotta set ’em straight.
It’s not that deep,
I’d rather overthink than underestimate.
People don’t get to see my soul unless I invite ’em in
Now I take a shit one day at a time,
Just like a vitamin”

It’s easy to see why J-S.A.N.D. has earned notable co-signs from the likes of Schoolboy Q, Missy Elliot, and J.I.D. for his efforts.

The multi-talented artist, producer, director, and film editor whose musical resume already includes opening for artists such as Kash Doll, Partners N Crime, Saba, & Young Nudy is currently prepping his upcoming project “The Perks of Solitude” which will cover a range of topics including being a black man in America, emotionally-taxing friendships, and the journey to find inner peace and self-awareness.

Obviously it takes more to be an MC than rhyme skills, but they are the main ingredient and J-S.A.N.D. has plenty of them along with punchlines, flows, and delivery to match.
