Fresh Faces Friday: The Fresh Committee Introduces Femdot
Femi Adigun is a scholar, entrepreneur, and MC extraordinaire with some of the most relatable yet poignant bars to come out of Illinois in a cool minute.
Going by the stage name of Femdot. The Evanston born lyricist has come a long way since attending his first open mic when he was 15, having hit the stage at Lollapalooza in the summer of 2018, getting a writeup in his hometown paper the Chicago Tribune, and securing features from prominent local artists such as Smino on his recently released 94 Camry Music EP.
It’s this second EP from the Windy City rhymer which takes you on a ride along through everyday life. From Parked Car Conversations with a female companion to Hot Lunch’s to the vivid storytelling on Snuck to Matty’s detailing a wild Friday night out in your parent’s whip. Package this together with wordplay like:
Here’s some things that young Dilla couldn’t speak about
Like getting jumped on right in front of Heath ‘nem house
Same place the car would stop when we was sneaking out
The battery was older than I was but best believe I’ll
Get a jump and reroute to a freak house
And be back before my mom could freak out.
Its easy to see how Fem is creating new classics with his business sense, versatility, and overall ability.
