Chicago-born artist, Kanye West, held his “Sunday Service” event in Chicago on Sunday morning, September 8th for the first time.
The praise and worship concert featuring Christian-based gospel choir performances fused with traditional hip-hop and rap lyrics originated in California. Since, West has taken it across the country bringing it to his home town of Chicago for the first time which took fans completely by surprise. Tickets for the performance at Huntington Bank Pavilion on Northerly Island were free, went on sale through Ticketmaster, and sold out in less than an hour.
Fans began lining up at midnight the night before his appearance in an attempt to obtain the best seats in the venue to hear West’s message of peace and positivity. Fans reported that their experience was “amazing,” whereas critics claimed it was less about God and more about Kanye, citing the exorbitant price tags on his “Sunday Service” merchandise.
