A$AP Diplomacy

It’s good to have friends in high places. In A$AP Rocky’s case it pays to have friends like Kanye West. After being arrested in Sweden on assault charges, A$AP Rocky could potentially face jail time if found guilty by a Swedish court. Recently, Kanye has reached out to President Donald Trump in an attempt to shift the USA’s diplomatic muscle into gear. In a recent tweet Trump stated:

“Just had a very good call with @SwedishPM Stefan Löfven who assured me that American citizen A$AP Rocky will be treated fairly. Likewise, I assured him that A$AP was not a flight risk and offered to personally vouch for his bail, or an alternative….”

Many have often questioned why Kanye would align himself with someone as marginalizing as Donald Trump. West has even gone as far to state that he was bullied by staff members of Saturday Night Live for simply wearing a MAGA hat. Yet this recent Swedish debacle has only bolstered Kanye’s foresight for sticking to his guns and showcased his networking skills.

There’s no rule stating that the Swedish prime minister must adhere to Trump’s request, or even acknowledge it for that matter. However, a request made by a sitting American president goes a long way and is usually fulfilled. No one should be surprised if A$AP Rocky is placed on a U.S bound plane early in the week.

Kanye West has often been labeled “crazy” and “on edge” by those who fail to realize the Chicago rapper’s intuitive entrepreneurial and business savvy. In the face of jail time in a foreign country, A$AP Rocky’s best hope for freedom happens to be the “unhinged” West and his rolodex containing the President of the United States’ phone number.
