Drake Dominates Billboard Awards and Shouts Out Arya Stark in Speech

Thought you were a Game of Thrones diehard? Well surprise surprise, so is one of Hip Hop’s Capos, specifically a fan of Arya Stark. Drake appeared on the stage of the 2019 Billboard Music Awards Wednesday evening to accept the award for Top Billboard 200 Album for “Scorpion.” He also won awards for top artist and top male artist, bringing his award total at a whopping 27.

He had a few acknowledgements on his mind as he spoke to the crowd. First, he thanked his colleagues and team who helped engineer the album, stating:

“Thank you to everybody who gave me their time, their energy, stayed away from their family and friends while we were trying to complete this” he said. “I always had a dream of doing a double album and I finally did it so now I’ll never do it again.”

Breaking records that evening, Drake knows an MVP when he see’s one. He ended his night by giving a nod to fellow Scorpio and Westeros’ biggest badass, Arya Stark.

“Shout out to Arya Stark for putting in that work last week.”

Even HBO Cosigned.

And there it is. Regardless of how you feel about the latter or the former, the fact of the matter is, two heavyweights made history this week. It could be safe to predict we might even see a Game of Thrones reference in his next hit, whenever that arrives. Heard it here first, folks.
