Meek Mill & Drake Team Up For Mob Styled ‘Going Bad’ Music Video.
It’s no secret that hip hop is thoroughly inspired by gangster culture. Particularly Sicilian Mafia style culture and all that that implies. If you had any doubts, you’ll have them cleared up by Meek Mill and Drake’s new music video released today “Going Bad”.
“Going Bad” produced by Zachary Wright and directed by Kid Art takes a Scorsese-like approach to this Apalachin-esque summit. The duo put a small arsenal of hip-hop heavy-weights in expensive suits and transplanted them into the ornate foyer of a luxury hotel. There’s no lack of designer suits or Rolex watches in this visual. They keep the gaudiness to a minimum to showcase the imperious simplicity of the Cosa Nostra feel they’re going for. The masses have had numerous references made in various songs by the very individuals here. The biggest example of late being Drake with “Mob Ties” in his latest album SCORPION. However what really stood out was the cameo by one of Hip Hops must executive level bosses, J Prince.
The video is filled with industry powerhouses, showing their muscle in mock car chases, bets on horse races, all topped of with the finest Cuban cigars. Other honorable mentions are due with appearances by Nipsey Hustle, T.I., Swizz Beats, PnB Rock as well as Mustard to name a few.
This will be the first collaboration for the pair since “R.I.C.O” off of Wins & Losses. Good to see Meek and Drake squashed the beef to make this hit. Staying true to a theme worthy of Don Corleone himself: all business not personal.
