The Academy Unveil The 2019 Oscar Nominations.

Oscar nominations for the 91st annual Academy Awards were unveiled early this morning with the help of one of our faves: Tracee Ellis Ross! In the live streaming video, nominations such as Best Picture were unveiled. Let’s see where some of our 2018 favorites, such as Black Panther, fell into place.

Black Panther

I’m sure we can all agree that Black Panther was THEE movie to see in 2018 and it did not disappoint. It undoubtedly deserved to be recognized by the Academies, and it has several Oscar nominations. It has been nominated for one of the top awards, Best Picture. Its other nominations include Production Design, Costume Design, Original Score, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, and finally Original Song: “All the Stars” by Kendrick Lamar and SZA. Come through Black Panther!

John David Washington, son of Denzel AND Pauletta (don’t get it twisted), brought the heat and comedy in BlacKkKlansman. With a director like Spike Lee, this memorable 2018 film also has its own list of nominations.  It, too, has been nominated for Best Picture. Other nominations include Directing (Spike Lee), Actor in a supporting role (Adam Driver), Adapted Screenplay, Film Editing, and Original Score. Alright now Spike and John David!

Green Book

Mahershala Ali, notably known from last year’s Oscar winning film, Moonlight, is back in the spotlight this year with Green Book. Green Book’s nominations include Best Picture, Actor in a Leading Role (Viggo Mortensen), Actor in a Supporting Role (Mahershala Ali), Original Screenplay, and Film Editing.

Other Nominations

Some other nominations we might be on the lookout for are Regina King for her role as Actress in a Supporting Role for If Beale Street Could Talk. Finally, nominations for Animated Feature Film include Incredibles 2 and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. For more Oscar nominations for this year’s Academy Awards, click here.
