Moses Sumney’s “Rank & File” Breaths New Life into Modern Soul

Wow. Moses Sumney just leveled up. Although his debut Aromanticism garnered acclaim from critics, he remains mostly underappreciated. Sumney has proven his art to be sturdy nonetheless. While mainstream stardom might elude him for now, don’t sleep, people! His latest single “Rank & File” features sharp commentary on the American judicial system. Its overt flaws surrounding the Mike Brown murder inspired Sumney to protest. Nevertheless, he felt out of place, stating:

“I felt like a camouflaged outsider at the protest, like an anthropologist performing a study amongst his own kind.”

Deep stuff. This inspiring track deserves your time. Press play above. Sumney’s EP Black in Deep Red, 2014 drops tomorrow!
