Janelle Monáe is Back with Two New Videos

Janelle Monáe Pays Tribute to Prince on “Make Me Feel”

Prince is a huge influence on countless musicians. Atlanta, Georgia recording artist Janelle Monáe is not shy about the Purple One’s impact on her music. After dabbling in acting (i.e. Oscar-winning Moonlight) and building her brand, she returns to her album-making forte. During the next two months before her third studio album, Monáe gifts fans not one but two new music videos. The first is the Prince-inspired “Make Me Feel”. It’s a funky, feel-good groove of shameless desire.

The second is a surprising triumph. Monáe pulls out her jewelry and flexes on all her haters with a well-crafted brag rap performance. I didn’t see this one coming. “Django Jane” is more boastful than much of her previous work. However, with two Best Picture-nominated films under her belt and two critically-acclaimed albums, she spits nothing but facts. Watch “Make Me Feel” above and “Django Jane” below. Let us know what you think in the comments below. Janelle’s Dirty Computer album drops April 27th!
