Album Review: Lion Babe – Begin

2015 has been an awesome year for Neo-Soul duo Lion Babe, 1st winning the hearts of many with their self-titled EP, rocking out at Afropunk and collaborating with Disclosure on their sophomore album ‘Carcal’. Now in 2016 the Producer-Singer combo have released their debut studio album aptly titled “Begin”. Featuring 10 brand new cuts (not including four tracks released previously on the EP) ‘Begin’ is a journey through some of the best R&B and Dance music of the year, filled with catchy pop hooks on tracks like “Impossible” , floor stomping songs like ‘Where do We Go’ and empowering anthems like “Wonder Woman”. Producer Lucas Goodman aka is the man behind the albums 14 tracks with assistance from Pharrell Williams (Wonder Woman), Al Shux (Hold On), Andrew Wyatt (Everyday Life) among others. While Jillian Hervey (daughter of Vanessa L. Williams) provides soulful vocals reminiscent of Erykah Badu with sassy independent woman like persona of a Beyonce. The two mesh their sounds to create a cohesive R&B album that sounds like honey for your years.
