I know a lot of you thought that the two-time Grand Slam winner/current WTA No. 1 would sign to adidas, I know I did. But it was just recently announced that Naomi Osaka penned an endorsement deal with Nike.
Osaka is one of the youngest players to reach this much success in the sport of tennis, Naomi is also the first Japanese-born player to rank No. 1. When Naomi was asked how she felt about signing with Nike, the 21-year-old replied:
“I’m proud to become a member of the Nike family and excited about getting involved in all of the opportunities Nike has to offer. Nike has a legendary track record of writing history and I look forward to being a part of those moments for many years to come.”
Naomi Osaka’s contract with Nike begins this week. She’ll make her debut in official Nike Tennis gear at the WTA Event in Stuttgart on April 22. There’s no news on how much the contract was for. Neither is there any information on how long the contract will last until. We’ll keep you posted when we learn more.
