“Find My Own Way” will be the lead single for Ride Waves, GRiZ’s sixth studio album. Wiz Khalifa’s voice leads the song with horns and cheerful piano scales, beginning the positive theme of perseverance and feel-good vibes of the song.
“The first time I heard the beat for ‘Find My Own Way’ I knew there was something special there, since the beat alone feels good,” Wiz shared with Complex. “I just had to sit with it and smoke a little KK and figure out my approach and I think it came out exactly how it should,” he said.
Wiz Khalifa sings in addition to the Harlem Gospel Choir, which helps gives the song a soulful, inspirational and cheerful tone.
“I wanted to write a song that reflects how it feels to lose your way in life, and also lift yourself back up and find the strength to keep going,” GRiZ told Complex. “Always trust in the process and yourself. Wiz spit some real knowledge here. Was such an honor to have him on this project!”
Out April 5, the 14-track album Ride Waves, will include previously released singles “I’m Good,” “Can’t Get Enough,” “A New Day” with Matisyahu, and “It Gets Better” featuring DRAM. The album is also set to include a feature from Snoop Dogg on the third track, “My Friends & I Pt. 2”.
