According To Direct Joe Russo, Chris Evans “Isn’t Done Yet” As Captain America.
Avengers co-director Joe Russo says that Chris Evans isn’t done playing the character of “Captain America.” None of this is set in stone, but according to Joe Russo, Evan’s committed to the franchise. This comes as a surprise as just a few months back Chris Evans finished up shooting for Avengers 4. He left a tweet which came off to most as if he would no longer play Captain America.
Officially wrapped on Avengers 4. It was an emotional day to say the least. Playing this role over the last 8 years has been an honor. To everyone in front of the camera, behind the camera, and in the audience, thank you for the memories! Eternally grateful.

We were all shocked by the tweet. Fans were so sure Evan’s time playing Captain America in the “Marvel Cinematic Universe” was almost done. Fans were even speculating who would replace him as the new Captain America although we were all sad to see him go. Evan’s played Steve Rogers since 2011 and has done a remarkable job doing so. It’ll be interesting to see how this all plays out.
“I think it was more emotional for him (Chris Evans) than it was for us, mostly cause he’s not done yet,” Russo told USA Today. “I don’t want to explain what I mean, but audiences will soon understand.” Russo doesn’t give us much to go by but if this is true, fans won’t be mad about it.
