The Waiting List For Porsche’s Fully-Electric Model Taycan Grows.

Originally unveiled as its Concept E project, Porsche‘s upcoming Taycan model is now beginning to shake up the automobile industry as the latest potential Tesla rival.

The waiting list for Porsche’s first fully-electric car continues to grow. The starting price is $75,000 USD, and the Taycan features a 600 horsepower electric engine. That gives it a 0-60 mph time of just under 3.5 seconds with an expected range of over 300 miles. The Taycan will also have a long list of driver-assistance features like an autonomous mode and a digital instrument panel with a holographic display to compete against Tesla’s Model S sedan.

They’re currently working on a 800-volt charger that can charge a vehicle to 80 percent in 20 minutes, by the end of 2019 Porsche aims to install over 10,000 fast-chargers around the world. Porsche’s electric push comes with a plan to invest $7 billion USD into vehicle development and related technology by 2022.
