Sade Is Reportedly Working On a Brand New LP.
It looks like the legendary songstress will make her return to music with a new full-length project. Sade’s long-time collaborator, Stuart Matthewman, told Rated R&B that he is working with the singer on her next album. Those who follow Sade know of her tendency to fade out of the spotlight to live and create. She did release her first new song in seven years for A Wrinkle In Time’s soundtrack, so a whole studio album would receive a warm welcome from her loyal fans. Her last release, Soldier of Love, came out in 2010. The album prior, Lover’s Rock dropped in 2000. So the timeline sounds about right for a new album.
Unfortunately we don’t have an anticipated release date. Stuart Matthewman did state, the release date is contingent on Sade and her creative partners’ contentment: “When we’re happy, then we’ll let everyone else hear it.” The RnB singer doesn’t care for being prolific by releasing music regularly, contrasting many contemporary artists. Matthewman also stated that Sade is “not interested in the fame or any of that stuff. She likes to put out art. So when it’s ready, it will come out.”
Lastly, Matthewman recalls a funny moment that illustrates some fans perception of the artist’s career choices. “Years ago, I think it was when ‘By Your Side,’ the song came out, and big posters were stuck around New York. Someone sprayed or wrote on top of it, ‘B*tch sings when she wants to.’ Sade loved it.”
