Kendrick Lamar Wins The Pulitzer Prize for “DAMN.” The First Rap Album to Do So.

It was announced today that hip hop star Kendrick Lamar just won the Pulitzer Prize for Music for his latest album, DAMN. The project was described as “a virtuosic song collection unified by its vernacular authenticity and rhythmic dynamism.”.

Add this award to K Dot’s recently won GRAMMY for “Best Rap Album” and its double platinum status. DAMN. is still making moves over a year after its release. This is the first time in which a non-jazz or classical artist has won the award. Congratulations to Kendrick Lamar and the Top Dawg Family.
