Last night (June 9th), Marvel dropped the first look at their highly-anticipated new film Black Panther. This marks history being made as Black Panther will be the first film with an all-black cast with a $100 million-dollar budget. Black Panther is also the first black hero added to the extensive Marvel Cinematic Universe to have his own film. Chadwick Boseman stars in the titular role of the royal vigilante, with Michael B. Jordan as the villain Killgrave.

Following the events of Civil War, T’Challa (Boseman) returns home as the king of Wakanda but finds his sovereignty challenged by a long-time adversary in a conflict with global consequences. The ideas of Afrofuturism will be presented on the big screen for the first time here.

The teaser premiered during Game Four of the NBA Finals alongside a brand new movie poster.
