New Jersey native best known as bassist for progressive metal giants Symphony X, Mike LePond now presents his first solo project ever: Mike LePond’s Silent Assassins, an onslaught of raw and true HEAVY METAL in it’s purest form. His debut self titled release is a full hour of headbanging riffs, kick ass vocals and epic tales. It is an album that draws influences from the classic heavy bands of the 1980s, all the way to the viking/folk metal of today. It was made “for” metalheads, “by” metalheads. A celebration of the power and glory of that which we call……..Heavy Metal.
Silent Assassins are:
Mike Lepond (Symphony X / Mike LePond’s Silent Assassins) Micheal Romeo (Symphony X) Alan Tecchio (Hades / Watchtower / Seven Witches), “Metal” Mike Chlasciak (Halford / Testament / Sebastian Bach).
In 9 tracks, Mike LePond’s Silent Assassins is able to provide listeners with a furious blast of metal if there ever was one. The lead vocalist delivers powerful, metal vocals that mesh perfectly with the epic guitar melodies. While the guitars on the project are enough for most listeners it’s really Mike LePond Silent Assassin’s delivery that puts this release over the top and makes it one for the ages. With unique concepts, a master y of musicianship, and rocking vocals, Silent Assassins manages to provide melodies that are easy on the ears yet capture the full essence of power metal. With lyrics based on Mythology, Literature and History and it easy to see why Silent Assassins songs are so addictive. My favorite records on the project include Apocalypse Rider, The Quest, Red Death, Ragnarok and The Progeney. The first release from Mike LePond’s Silent Assassins is definitely worth a listen or two and you can do so below.
